Inside her head, Emi knew she would probably be okay. She'd had worst injuries, hadn't she? That is not what she said out loud.
"Don't bother! Wouldn't want you to go out of your way for my safety, right, boss?" she called up at him. She earned herself a red-faced, sputtering fit. The construction boss disappeared and Emi chuckled. A few minutes later, he burst into the room, shaking his fist. Emi held up her hands.
"Let's get something straight here, okay? This is your fault. Yes, I asked for the job but you hired me and didn't give me any kind of training, or safety equipment, or even the right materials. I'll call this even and not call the guard--"
"There isn't a guard anymore!" shouted the man. Emi blinked. There wasn't? Oh right. She'd been gone for so long now... "Alright, fine, whatever, I won't call the whatever authorities as long as you get us the right supplies and someone tells us how to do this job. See, that's not hard? I'm not even asking for munny and trust me, you got off easy in that I didn't beat you into the dirt."
"You're bluffing," the man told her. Emi's eyes narrowed. "Just try me," she said. Maybe it was the tone of her voice, maybe it was the look on her face... either way, an idea was sparked in the boss's brain. The idea that it was probably not a good idea to push this girl.
A few hours later, she was working alongside Castle on the house with a smile on her face
