Her response to his question was an inaudible mumble. He wasn't sure if it was a "yes, I know, but I don't care" mumble or a "I don't believe in witches" mumble, but either way, he didn't want to press the issue and end up sounding awkward, or worse, like a wimp. Instead, he watched with growing curiosity as she put the coat thing on. It looked familiar, he noted, but he couldn't quite remember why.
She turned around and held out a hand, and then looked at him over her shoulder, warning him not to run or scream.
"Sure, whatever," he said with a casual shrug, as if he weren't too impressed by the big deal she was making out of it. Truthfully, he was very, very eager to see what the heck she was talking about. He hoped it was as cool as she was making it out to be.
He wasn't disappointed. With a strange, whooshing noise, a dark portal appeared out of thin air in front of her. Castle's crimson eyes went wide, and his jaw dropped in amazement.
"Dude!" he exclaimed, an excited smile spreading across his face.
The thing was obviously made of darkness, but he really didn't care. It was way too cool. Emi gathered her stuff and dashed through it before he could ask any questions, and he didn't even care that she called him "squirt."
"This is so awesome," he said as he ran after her, giving only the slightest of hesitations at the threshold of the portal. It was like he could feel the thing's energy coming off of it in waves, making the hairs on the back of his neck stand on end. Soon, it enveloped him completely, and the Corridor disappeared.
At long last, he had set out on a real adventure.
