Best Kept Secret
Before Axel could get the words, "You can tell Zexion..." out of his mouth, his Dusk visitor disappeared beneath Saïx's claymore. The Flame didn't even flinch at the action and only gave a rather dispassionate look at the spot the lesser Nobody had once occupied. The second that Dusk had shown up, Axel had known it would have to be destroyed, and if Saïx hadn't done it, he would have.
This was the game they played.
Axel agreed with Saïx that Zexion taking direct action was more than a little unbelievable. As long as he had known Zexion, the Schemer had never expressed willingness to kill another member, much less the Superior himself.
"Can't wait to see that come true," he muttered to himself.
The news about Sora was of slightly more interest, though the inclusion of Kairi surprised him. What was Zexion planning to do with the trust of both her and Sora?
Before Axel could respond to Saïx, the Diviner vanished into a Corridor, probably heading for the Dark Meridian as he had said. Now, Axel was faced with a decision. He could immediately go to the Dark Meridian and wait for Marluxia with Saïx. Or he could seek out Zexion, find out more details about Sora, and try to explain away the fact that the Schemer's Dusk hadn't returned to him. That was easy enough to do as long as he feigned ignorance.
What Dusk? I never saw a Dusk, Zexion. Good thing I ran into you by chance here.
The problem with going after Zexion first was that Axel had no idea where to find him. The Dusk hadn't bothered to mention that little detail. And he knew for certain where Saïx would be. Besides, killing Flower Boy sounded much less boring at this point. Axel was tired of talking and planning. Action was needed before he literally exploded from pent up aggression.
If he happened to run into Zexion along the way, so much the better.
"Oh, I won't die, Saïx," he said to the air. "Just make sure you leave me a piece of Marly to burn. Preferably his face with that smirk."
He summoned a Corridor and left the Cave of Wonders behind.
