And nothing else matters.
Bahamut smiled lightly. He was gladdened by her acceptance of his gift, and it instilled even more hope in his heart. He made certain to distance himself from the hope slightly, as he never would know if humanity were to fail him again, as it had before. But regardless, that should not worry him, for now. For now, she, I hope, can redeem them. If not...then it matters not.
"You are very welcome. And you need not call me 'sir,' though I am older in years than you shall ever know. Please, call me Bahamut." It made him feel...separate--as though he did not belong--every time she used that nominative. And that feeling was not one he particularly enjoyed.
One of seven? She wished to know the meaning, then. Very well, Bahamut would explain to her what being one of seven meant through a likely longer story than he needed to. "In the beginning, there was light, and there was darkness. The two were spun into opposing creatures, but that was doomed to failure. After all, the light and darkness could exist in opposition in their purest forms, but that form destroyed nearly any creature made fully of it.
"However, when the creator spun them both into forms, the forms all survived. From the remains of the creatures of pure light, all but seven were chosen to be forces for humanity to serve, or otherwise to guide humanity from above. The seven that remained, seven young girls, were chosen to serve mankind as their princesses. And so, there were seven in the beginning, and there have always and will always be seven.
"You have been chosen as one of the seven princesses, to serve and guide mankind from among them. Lead them ever towards the light." The dragon smiled then, even as he left certain details out; such as what happened to those beings of the darkness that remained from what was created in the beginning.
