A good view through red eyes. --- Ain put his hand down when he was called a heathen by Caroline. There was no doubt that he was one but she didn't have to say so. At least he gave a suggestion, maybe dance was a bad choice when he thought about it. Then again, he only knew how to do a few things and dancing was one of them. He discarded the idea without a second thought and followed behind Caroline to wherever she was going. Still he wondered what they should do while hanging out in a church. "We haven't seen heartless since the last time we stopped in this world." he stated quiet. "It doesn't look like many are left. I really have to search to find them after all." After a bit of walking he soon took the stairs up and around the left tower going up, it might not of been a good idea to wander aimlessly around the church like they were doing but they had little left to do. After a long transition from bottom to top, the bright light of the day was quite refreshing. From where he stood he could see gargoyles that stared outward towards the city from above. They were high up now, he had never been on such a large structure in his life. "Last time we didn't come up here." he stated as he walked over to the edge of the walkway and looked down at the many buildings below. "It a good view from up here." He stood there silently for a while as he placed his hands on the stone barrier.

" Maybe it's a good thing the heartless haven't shown up," Caroline said, and looked over her shoulder. Oops, she was talking to thin air. Ain had disappeared up a flight of stairs, and she jogged after him. " Are we allowed to be up here?" she asked, but then she made it outside and gasped. It was a gorgeous view. The sky was so clear. Caroline walked towards the railing as if in a daze, trying to take everything in at once. She planted her hands on the railing and peered over the side, standing on her tiptoes. She gave a low whistle and settled back onto flat feet. " That's a long way down. Be careful." She ginned. This would be a good way to pass the time until they could leave. They could just stay up here and... " Do you recall the game we played that first night after leaving Louisiana?" she asked. " I think that would be a fun way to pass the time. Let's play again... hmm..." With her back resting against the railing, she tapped her chin, thinking. " If you could be animal, what would you be? I figure I'd probably be a... a lamb. They are so cute and fluffy!" Out of nowhere, the bells in the tower started to ring. Caroline jumped, drawing her hands to her chest. There wasn't anything wrong though, just the bells announcing the time of day. They sounded so sad to her. It was rather loud, too, and every chime made her jump a little.

Why is it so hard to get my thoughts out in words, I feel like I can almost grasp them. --- His mind was full of thoughts as he stared out at the distant horizon. This was the first time he had ever layed eyes on such a perfect view, so beautiful and high above the very world. It granted a different kind of prospective that couldn't be found anywhere else and though he was usually slow to pick up on things of this nature today felt different. Though his eyes were red instead of dark brown, things seemed more open to him. What was different, he could not say. There was a lot of trouble today and though he wished that he had stayed in bed he now was glad to have come here. Ain glanced to the side at Caroline as she stood there, the suns rays sparkling through her curly blond hair. His expression much of the same as he did not react openly. His memory was a little fuzzy when Caroline started talking about things from only a short while ago. For some reason he could not recall playing such a game, surely his memory was that bad. It had only been several days, maybe more. On the topic of animals however he paused, he had not thought of such thing, had he given a answer before? Surely not. He thought about it.A lizard perhaps. Wait that isn't a animal. He shook his head of the thought, he just couldn't imagine himself being a simple animal. So weak and fleshy. His thoughts only fell on stronger species that were tough and large with sharp claws and fangs. As the bells started to ring his eyes shifted to direction the sound was coming from with much surprise, though he was a little. He looked to Caroline after a moment and sighed. The bells seemed to have startled her which almost made him want to laugh which prompted him to cover his mouth. The thought passed and he did not laugh however to his disappointment. "The bells seemed to reflect the feelings of this world through it's simple chimes." he blurted out as he glanced to the side back out towards the city with straight expression. When the sound finally stopped his ears ringed a little. "I have been thinking about things." he stated quietly without looking at Caroline because he didn't want to glare at her with his now red eyes. "More often since this morning." He placed his right hand on the stone railing. "We have been alone together for quite a while. Aren't you bothered at all by being with me?" he stated as he glanced slightly at Caroline to gauge her response. Though he was dull, he was well aware that he was far from normal. In his mind, the thought that Caroline should find a place that she could find happiness was present. "I'm a pretty sinful man and I might corrupt you just by standing next to you."

Oh, look at me, I'm blubbering... -- Despite herself, she laughed. The bells had finally stopped ringing, and she turned and rested her forearms on the railing, clasping her hands in front of her. " I wish you wouldn't say things like that," she said, quietly. " It almost sounds like you don't want me around anymore." She glanced at him, and then back out at the city and the river. Maybe he was mistaking her for Becky. Unlike her sister, however, Caroline could find the good in most everyone. She believed not only that but also that the bad could always be forgiven. It was a safe bet that whatever he had done that made him consider himself "sinful" could be redeemed. He had already started the process, at least in her mind, by being so kind to her. " Besides, I'd like to think I'm not that easily corrupted," she said, with another timid laugh. She poked him hard in the arm and pretended to pout. " Now, stop being so gloomy and trying to get me to leave. I'm not going anywhere. Whether you like it or not, you're stuck with me so get used to the idea!" There were more words she wanted to say but she trailed off, unsure if she should actually say them. She took a deep breath, fidgeted with a bit of hair and turned to face him. " Don't worry so much, okay? At this point, I trust you. We're friends and nothing you can do is going to make that any different. I'm just worried about you being so sick and... its just because I don't want anything bad to happen to you." She stopped and suddenly smiled. It looked forced because it was." Let's not talk about sad things like that. You never answered my question..."

I'm relieved. --- Ain turned slightly to listen to everything Caroline had to say in response. His eyes stared at her unblinking with giving even a slight response to anything she had said though his right hand gripped the stone railing tighter. The hard poke to his arm from Caroline snapped him out his trance with a tiny bit of pain enough to hear the rest with more open eyes. Did she really mean it when she said that she would stay with him whether he liked it or not? It wasn't that he didn't want her around, it was just that he didn't want to hurt Caroline. His head turned away from Caroline after everything was said. Caroline's words resonating with him, his lips contracting slightly into what resembled a smile and his eyes stared more softly. He didn't know why but hearing such kind words from Caroline took off a ton of stress from his body. That warmth he felt was something he just couldn't describe in words or even think about clearly. After a second he raised his right hand from the railing and tapped his lips until his expression returned to his normal emotionless state. His eyes narrowed and he looked back. There was a lot more to say but he stumbled to find the right words amidst the kindness from Caroline. Deciding to disregard what he wanted to say, as he looked upon her forced smile. He didn't want to say anything that would upset her. The hope was to allow her to leave if she wanted and he had given that chance. Deep down he felt relieved to hear such words even though he also felt undeserving of them. Even though he wasn't aware yet. Sometime in the last few seconds his eyes had turned back to Dark Brown and he looked the same as always. He was still weary of them however. "Alright, Caroline." he finally answered her as he stared unmoving. "A lizard perhaps."

You're looking better... -- " A lizard," she echoed. " I can see that. Heh. I love lizards. There were always these little green ones on the porch that I would try to catch but... well, that's not very lady like, now is it?" She looked up at him and gasped a little. " Oh! Your eyes are back to normal. I think that's a good sign. Come here..." she said, and leaned up to put her hand on his forehead. No more fever. It must have been a false alarm. He looked a lot better and didn't seem to be an as much pain as before. That made her feel better, but she was still worried. With her hands on her hips, she took a step back and gave him a once over. " You don't seem to be sick anymore, but I do still want you to see a doctor. Just in case. Maybe not on this world... maybe on a world that is a little more tolerant." Admittedly, she was still a little bit bitter. She didn't like the way the guards and townspeople had treated her friend. What she really wanted to do was walk out there and give them a piece of her mind. Her hand strayed towards her new sword, and... it burned her hand. She yelped and snatched her hand back. Patience, Caroline. Kindness. You shouldn't harbor any ill will towards those people who didn't even know what they were doing. Forgive them. She must have looked strange, staring intently at her burned hand but she was listening to the voice in her heart. She sighed. It was true and she knew it, but it was hard for her to show kindness to them when they had been so mean to Ain. But there was the merchant who gave us directions. That was nice. And that woman did invite us into her home before she got scared. That's all it was- they were just scared. So... I forgive them.There. Now, she felt so much better. Her hand didn't burn anymore. She coughed, aware that she had been silent and staring off into space for a minute or two. " Sorry."
