New faces? -------- Aerith's eyes left Jericho and returned to Elaine. "You don't have to leave, Elaine. Or how about I come with you?" She gave Jericho a look that said he could wait. He had made her wait, after all.
Before she could go anywhere with the girl, someone else appeared. A very tall someone, well over a foot taller than she was. He was even taller than Jericho, so of course, she now felt even shorter.
"My name is Aerith."
Nadia watched the proceedings with an uninterested eye, at least until this new guy showed up.
Who the hell is that?
It didn't matter what he said. He would die, too, if he chose to stick around for much longer. So, she didn't bother to give him her name.
Through the channel with Predis, she said, No, you're fine. I'll let you know if you start tickling me again. __________________
The past couple of days had been quite interesting. Animositas proved to be enjoyable company, despite the fact that she was an empty shell. There had been plenty of teaching moments in the streets of this world. Of course, while he mainly focused on the negative aspects of humanity, he could not stop there. Animositas needed to see how people pretended in their day-to-day lives, after all. She needed to be believable while she walked around in the guise of that girl.
In the course of his stay here, Ethan had heard several rumors circulating about an outsider woman who was healing people in secret. Some of the rumors went beyond that and labeled her an angel.
When he happened upon the crowded alleyway, it all immediately clicked. Aerith was here. She must be the woman in question. Jericho was here, as well as Nadia and some other girl who was sullenly standing next to Nadia.
"I seem to have stumbled upon quite the gathering."
He approached with a friendly smile. "Jericho, I see you have changed more than your outfit. Nadia..." He tipped his hat to her. "Always a pleasure."
When he reached Aerith, he gave her a slight bow. "I believe I have been hearing a few things about you. The commoners do seem to love you dearly. In secret, at the very least."
Time to focus on the out-of-place person. He was far too tall. Ethan made sure to employ his aura. "I do not, however, recognize you. Are you also traveling with us?"

Pawns are better than bodies. Predis sent through the already formed channel with the newcomer, the one called Lysander. "I am Predisrruel, as was said. I can communicate through mental connections known as links or channels. I would like to know your purpose for being here. Would you care elaborating for me through the channel?" The spider made sure not to shift around too much, as he had found a comfortable spot now. Although, he was considering moving to Jericho's shoulder. But that made him a target.
Lysander, confused only a moment by the voice in his head, denoted the fact that it was unlike any of the currently assembled figures before him, so it was either a person who was not within vision range, one who was invisible, or one who was too small to see, or otherwise small enough to be hidden out of sight. I mind not, Predisrruel. I am, as I said, Lysander. I am the son of a man known as Slayer, the Magekiller. However, I share not his legacy.
I seek only to help people, and to that means I have come here. He turned to look at the man who was approaching with that and nodded in a polite manner. "You would not recognize me. I am Lysander, and I noticed this menagerie from afar. I wished to see for myself why this was." He put names to faces. Nadia, Jericho, Aerith. Predisrruel, who is someone I cannot see currently. The list was far from complete, though.
Predis, meanwhile, had closed the channel with Lysander and opened one with Jericho. "Master, this newcomer is the son of one known as Slayer the Magekiller. An ominous title, and likely one that hides much inability, but perhaps usable nonetheless. This Lysander is an idealist."

Lets see how long this lasts. In the last couple of days, the Sentiment learnt how to better move amongst humans. While still not mastering how to act exactly like the girl whose guise it had decided to wear almost as a second skin – after all, only under this guise was Animositas allowed to speak aloud properly – it had managed to blend into crowds better, and even sound human to an extent. It may slip now and then, but the basic foundations were there, and had solidified in an astonishing rate. Today it was moving alone, managing just fine along the streets of Notre Dame. Well, maybe not exactly alone. After days in the same world exploring the armor had noticed a familiar presence wandering around. And seeing as its current ‘partner’ of sorts had been on slow approach to that one of such pure heart, the Sentiment followed. It wasn’t even necessary to maintain a visual link to him, just a vague idea of in which direction he moved was fine. And thus, he reached the cathedral, quickly joining with a crowd in an alley to the side. A crowd most familiar. Animositas scouted them from afar, hiding amongst people and illusions alike, recognizing several of the faces there, but some others not. The man who called himself an avatar of darkness was present, along with his female partner and the newly appointed Princess of Heart, Aerith. Neither of them were threats. And among the unknown ones, only one stood up. Not the two females, despite one presenting that potential or factual ability to wield a Keyblade, she was of no importance. She appeared… bound to Jericho in a way. No, it was the man. The one that, from what it could see, nobody there had met previously. That presence of Light within him was unsettling. Light itself didn’t have such an effect on the Sentiment, but something within him stirred up the living armor. Taking advantage of the crowd, both real and illusory it was creating, it approached the alley quickly. With its Keyblade in hand, it walked slowly in between a mass of illusions of citizens, until it reached the alley. Then, the main body of the Sentiment disappeared from sight, reappearing a second later in the air behind the unknown threat, its blade striking with a quick and powerful diagonally downwards slash. Fighting! Sounds good. The girl was so unbelievably dull. Sir? She called him sir? Really? Boring, boring, boring. Then some other person showed up at random. The light within him disturbed Jericho greatly, and Predis informed him that he was the son of someone called Slayer the Magekiller. He sounded about as threatening as he was subtle. Certainly his little son was even moreso. Just as he was about to mock the swordsman for speaking in archaic tones, yet another person showed up. Oh, it was that not-person. The whatchamacallit- armor suit thing. It came up behind the man of light and slashed at him. Well. Jericho certainly never objected to killing someone of the light, unless it happened to be Aerith. He summoned five Aranea, as well as his Keyblade. The Aranea immediately attacked, hissing and screeching as their claws and tails sought to dig into his flesh. Jericho followed that up with a slash from the front, absorbing darkness all the while. "Hi, armor-thing! How've you been? You should have seen what I did to that place after you left- it was great."Aerith would just have to understand. [Absorption is in effect. Strength is now at X1.5]

Finally. -------- Ethan was here. But what followed him was far more interesting at the moment. That girl that had been at the Castle of Dreams was here, and she was looking to kill the freakishly tall guy. Jericho was quick to back the thing up.
The alley was already getting crowded. Why not add to it? She summoned Azrael and sent the chimera after the man of light. With any luck, it would pin him.
Who cared if the girl got caught up in it?
Ethan, meanwhile, was content to sit back and watch. There came a point where there was too much action and not enough room. They would end up tripping over themselves. Instead, his eyes wandered to Aerith, who suddenly looked very pale.
"Stop! Please!"

And...attempted gang-rape. That's just lovely. Predis climbed out of Nadia's pocket and grew to his larger size. He moved to wait near the edge of the alleyway, blocking off that escape route, in case the man tried to run. "His escape route is closed," he sent to Jericho.
Lysander was not really surprised that he was being attacked. Still, they had the jump on him, since he wasn't in the surprise round. He managed to guard the attack from the chimera, but the keyblade struck him from behind, tearing through flesh and muscle. He was also cut from the front, a sword wielded by Jericho cutting through his chest. He managed to lean away from the attack slightly, but it was still a deep wound regardless.
He blocked some of the Heartless' attacks, but most made it through, cutting up his upper legs and lower torso. Slicing around him, angling the cuts so as not to hit any walls, he managed to cut one of the Heartless up badly enough to kill it. Regardless, Lysander still had several more to deal with, as well as a pissed of chimera, a man with extreme amounts of darkness in his heart, and a thing from behind. He still hadn't looked to see what it was.
"Well then, that's a fine hello," he said as he gasped for air, still not willing to give up, even though blood near poured out the cuts on his back and chest. Well, unless he could get out of there. If he could live to fight another day, he could help more people. And live to oppose these creatures of the dark as well.

Escalation. The attack went through magnificently, and thankfully, the other people in the alley had deemed the man a threat as well. With that many attacks from so many directions, the man of the Light found himself cornered and bleeding. He had been wise enough to block the probably most dangerous thing there, the Chimera that had plunged himself at him, but with two other people and heartless popping up he was outnumbered almost ten to one. The man had grown tired almost immediately, his blood loss probably diminishing his strength by a great amount. And for someone who would have clearly stood his ground in any other situation, he remained foolish enough not to give even a passing glance at his original attacker. His reaction to the illusion of the red haired girl standing behind him with a silver Keyblade bathed in his blood and bloodstains on her face would have been amusing to see. “This is a better goodbye,” the Sentiment mocked him from behind, drawing its second Keyblade in its left hand, the fallen’s Destiny Place. There, in a quick move, Animositas plunged both blades, their tips forward so as to pierce, towards the back of the man, a snide smile decorating the face of the fake girl that wielded them. Unconsciousness has arrived, but you aren't home free. Idiot. He didn't have the time for it. Turning quickly upon hearing the voice behind him, Lysander didn't have time to register that it was a young woman attacking him. Or looked like one, anyways. She was likely a manner of fiend, with her mannerisms and such. His blade snapped into place to intercept both of the others, blocking the assault. At this point, he knew he had no other alternative, no choice.
He had to hope that they were merciful. Lysander was about to lower his weapon and ask to be spared when he heard a rumbling beneath him. There was something else there. Something...ancient. Whatever had awakened it, whether it was his attempted act of giving up, which he doubted, or just the sheer massive presence of darkness focused into one place...one way or another, something was awake, ancient, and deeply, deeply unhappy, by the sounds of it.
Buildings shook as earthquake tremors were sent through the ground. Lysander fell to his knees. He could feel it now, something of a Light so powerful, so massive and wonderful...he collapsed. Unconsciousness was likely a blessing at this point, even though without medical treatment, he was as good as dead.

The rumbling continued. The earth shook as if there was something beneath it, shaking back and forth. It was as if children were jumping on a bed, and these were those reverberations. But then, just when it seemed none could stand any longer, the earthquake stopped. And a bright light filled the air in front of the cathedral next to the alley in which the group was assembled.
The light was beautiful at first, but it grew sharp after a moment, and then, the light ceased, and there stood a man. Less so a man, however; whatever this was, it was no mortal. It looked down at the humans fleeing it, and snorted. "It appears life is not so different as when I rested after all.
"Why have I awakened?" it rumbled, something that seemed akin to a mutter. "Are the others...? No." It took several steps forward, finally sensing the presence of the extreme amounts of darkness, all centered on one small location. Standing just a few steps back from where the battle seemed to be going on, it tilted its head. "Well, dark has not yet changed its tactics." A bellow swept out from its chest; a heaving sigh.
"Servants of the dark, know you not who I am?" The stood tall, earth rumbling around it. It was ready for something. Perhaps that something was battle. Perhaps it was something else. Who would know besides it?

Yeah, sure. Jericho looked down at the man as he fainted, and in a good display of sportsmanship he ordered the Aranea to descend. He finished the being of light off with a clean blow from Arachnid, severing the tie between mind and body. More specifically, the connection between head and shoulders, also known as the neck. There was a noise, and he looked up. A giant...thing was stationed in front of him. The stench of light was almost overpowering, along with perhaps a few other stenches. Well, that was unprecedented and oddly convenient. He kicked Lysander's head in annoyance, which knocked against a wall as if it were a soccer ball. "It's 'do you not know who I am' or 'don't you know who I am', my giant light-filled friend. Passive sentence structure is cumbersome and incorrect when the subject is known." He twirled Arachnid lazily. "Considering your appearance, your nature, and your size, I would assume you are...deus ex machina?"Whatever it was, it looked and felt important. How many Heartless did it take to bring down an overgrown orc-thing? He had half the population of Castle of Dreams at his beck and call. Then again... "Hey, Emi. Want to take the first attack? I'll trigger that winged bullshit you can pull if you promise not to hit me."[Strength is now at X2.]

That was… unexpected. Perhaps it shouldn’t have talked. That was the disadvantage of trying to act human: humans make mistakes. Surely, the man had managed to block the strikes only to faint and remain at the mercy of the creatures of the dark, but it still meant the Sentiment had made a mistake by announcing the blow. It would need to remember that. Animositas looked as he collapsed, and was ready to strike him down, not paying attention to the trembling in the ground… only to have Jericho beat it to the punch. Annoyance ran through the bloodstained face of the red haired girl, as her eyes moved from the decapitated body in the ground to the fiend who had just finished him off. “You did NOT just steal my kill,” it retorted at him, seeing the head being kicked away. Of course, that entire point became moot when the feeling of something standing behind it overcame it. A large creature of Light standing behind it at that. The Sentiment turned around and jumped back in shock and over the dead body, all its senses going off the roof. What was that thing doing there? Of all creatures of Light, why did that one had to show up there and right now? This new presence caused a barrage of memories to flash before the armor, almost like a chaotic stream. It couldn’t even tell apart one from another. Considering its current options, and knowing that if the huge creature decided to attack they would all be left dead within seconds, Animositas turned its back on it and pushed its way towards the other end of the alley, picking up the head of the fallen man on its way by his hair. No point wasting a perfectly good head by just playing ball games with it.

Ha, yeah. Like I'm really going to help you. -- Everything happened so quickly. Emi didn't even get a chance to uncross her arms and leave before the battle begun. She did however, get out of the way of whatever the fuck Nadia was doing. She stood next to Aerith and Ethan and watched the battle unfold. " Hey, what the hell!? He didn't even do anything yet, what are you doing?!" she screamed, and she realized her words had absolutely no affect. The newcomer was dead in a matter of moments, and Emi winced and averted her eyes when Jericho delivered the final blow. No sooner had one battle ended before another challenger appeared. Emi looked down at her feet. Did Paris have earthquakes? Because it sure as heck felt like it, until she looked up and saw...well, something. She took a hesitant step back, but swallowed whatever words she had. She wanted to scream something along the lines of "We're not all servants of the dark!" She knew she wasn't and she was 97% sure Aerith wasn't either. The native girl, too. But she kept her mouth shut and tried to think of what she needed to do. She wanted to run. There were so many Heartless nearby and it just added to her discomfort. Jericho addressed her directly, and Emi blinked. She was beginning to think she had gone invisible. " 'Winged bullshit'? What are you talking about?" she asked him. She didn't remember the details of what had happened in the forest the first time she had the pleasure of meeting Jericho, but he did. Lacewing stayed put away because she feared what would happen if she summoned it, but she did rest a hand on her kali sticks. She realized then that she didn't want to fight. Her mission had been simple: find Princesses of Heart. She had already seen one innocent go down today and she didn't want to be part of a second murder. And so, she took her hands away from her sticks and stood her ground. " I won't fight it. I'll turn a blind eye and let you do what you want, but I won't take part." All exits were blocked, so Emi opened a Corridor. " Don't worry, I won't go far. I promise. Meet me in the cathedral when you're done, she said, and disappeared into the Corridor. She stepped back out again inside the cathedral. There were people running, having heard word of the monster outside, but she sat down with her back against the wall and stared at a stained glass window. No one noticed her.

I don't like this, I don't like this... -------- This was too much. Between the blood and the violence and the darkness present, Aerith was growing more pale by the second. Kairi standing there, covered in blood, wasn't helping matters.
"Please..."
She winced as Jericho cut off the poor man's head and then kicked it against the wall. The smell of blood intensified. There was nothing she could do to heal that. She put a hand to her head and shut her eyes, swaying a little.
An arm wrapped around her waist, steadying her. "I have you, my dear. Let's not faint right now, hm?"
Ethan. Aerith opened her eyes and gave him a grateful look. She would have said something, but the ground shook. Suddenly, some large creature radiating light was standing near them. It provided some relief to Aerith's senses, a counterbalance to the darkness choking the alley.
Jericho, naturally, wanted to fight it.
Emi left the scene through a Corridor, saying she would be in the cathedral, and "Kairi" vanished farther into the alley, carrying the severed head. Aerith shuddered. Ethan's arm tightened around her.
Nadia's hatred of this new thing was transferring rapidly to Azrael. And the chimera's irritation at having been denied tearing its target apart while it still lived was mingling with that hatred. Never had it been more apparent that Nadia and Azrael were one.
Take him, while you still have time.
With pleasure.
The head was gone, but there was plenty of body left for the chimera's feline head to sink its teeth into and drag deeper into the alley. The sounds of flesh being torn and devoured echoed between the walls. Once those ceased, there was a distinct quartet of satisfied purring, snorting, growling and hissing. With blood dripping from all three of its mouths, Azrael reappeared next to Nadia for a moment before vanishing.
Aerith was white as a sheet by now. "Brother... Please. There are no Princesses here. Can we go?"

No... --
Elaine should have left when she had the opportunity. Everything took a downward turn as even more people entered the tiny alleyway, more outsiders that she didn't know. She could only tell they weren't from this world. One named Lysander, another one that spoke to Jericho and then the woman named Nadia, another woman that had come in with Jericho and Nadia with black hair, and then another woman that attacked Lysander. Jericho had also summoned more of those Heartless creatures and now it seemed everyone was fighting.
And that man... they killed Lysander quickly, decapitating him. Elaine looked away as quickly as she could, averting her eyes from the bloody mess. She winced as she heard the head bounce off the wall, closing her eyes. Why were these people here? Why did they need to kill that man? What had he done to them? Maybe there was some unknown history between all of them. She didn't want to know and didn't want to find out, especially now with the ground shaking.
Oh... oh no. No no no. A large creature was here now, the earthquakes stopping. No, she couldn't stay here any longer. She could just hear the screams of her town as they scurried farther and farther away from the cathedral. She needed to get home, make sure everyone was okay, and get away from this catastrophe. Nothing was said as she fled-- she slipped out of the alley and down the cobblestone streets. Hopefully, this would all be over soon.
Hopefully.

It looked down at the man filled with so much darkness, ignoring the being of darkness who walked away. "You seem to be filled with too much darkness, so much that you cannot see the light. It is unhealthy for a human." The being took a step forward. "Allow me to fix that for you."
Light surged around the creature and then blazed forward, part of the creature's essence dissolving around all of those near or in the alleyway. "Do you see the light? Do you feel it? It is warmth; why have you run from its unending embrace?" He took a knee, looking down at the man.
"Deus ex machina is not my name, nor be it what I am. God from the machine is not accurate; no, I am Titan, the Earthshaker. I am one of the Espers of the Light." Turning his head to look at the woman who spoke of this man as her brother, the Esper said, "You seem to have the mark of an Esper upon you already. Bahamut, if I am not mistaken. Has he awoken already?"
