I should be used to smoke. -- Considering she was on the brink of unconsciousness, Emi missed most of the fun stuff. The last thing she remembered was coughing, gasping for breath and Castle screaming at her about something. He sounded worried, but Emi went limp against the restraints. She wasn't fully unconscious, but pretty damn close. You would think her body would be a little tougher, all things considered. And the next thing she knew, she was free. Weakly, she pushed off the ropes. It took a few tries but she finally got untangled. There was no time to worry about the consequences. They had to get out now. She sidestepped over the the felled stake, staying as close to the other half as possible to avoid the fire. She stepped up on to it and dashed quickly as she could to the other side and down onto the platform, where she collapsed onto her knees. She opened a Corridor, but it wouldn't stay open for long. " Castle, hurry!" she tried to scream, but it came out hoarse and she wasn't sure how well he could hear her. She pushed herself up and gathered her strength again, this time to thank Animositas. " Thank you!" she shouted, waving her arm. And then she turned and ran into the Corridor. My stuff is over on that bench. I've got to get it... -- Emi used [Corridors of Darkness+]! 1 post until next use

"Emi, do you hear me? Emi!" he shouted when she didn't respond.
Suddenly, the pole shuddered, and the ropes went slack. After a moment of disorientation, Castle yanked them off and threw them aside. He started to move, but his feet got tangled, and he dropped down to pull those ropes off as well. He winced as the flames licked at him, but all things considered, small burns were practically nothing.
He heard Emi's voice again. She'd used the fallen pole to escape the blaze. Castle started to follow her, and that's when he saw the other girl standing there, in the fire, on fire.
If he wasn't catching on fire himself, he would have taken more time to react to that. Instead, he jogged across the pole and raced into the Corridor right after Emi, using his hands to put out the parts of his clothes that were starting to burn. He had to put out a few strands of hair as well.
He didn't expect them to come out almost in the same place, but next to a bench that for some reason had Emi's stuff on it. He watched her grab it, and then they both retreated into another Corridor that took them, thankfully, to the inside of the gummi ship.
Looming asphyxiation finally caught up with him. His vision blackened at the edges as he staggered over to a wall and caught himself on it, wheezing.
"Are... you... okay...?" he gasped hoarsely.

I missed you. -- Upon reaching the ship, Emi tossed her belongings to one side and slumped against one wall. " I'm okay..." she said, just as hoarse as he was. She leaned against the wall, breathing heavily for a few minutes before taking a step towards him and wrapping her arms around his shoulders. It wasn't like her to hug people but they had just almost died, and she was very, very happy to see him. " So much has happened," she said quietly, pulling away from him. " But for right now, I just want to go home." She dropped to the floor and crossed her arms, seemingly holding herself now. She closed her eyes, and leaned her head against the wall. " I'm so tired. Can we just go home?"

A hug was the last thing he expected to get. Consequentially, he just stood there, not knowing how to react until she let go. He looked up at her wordlessly. Maybe it was because his throat was still sore from the smoke, but his voice had made itself scare.
Finally, after she sat down on the floor, he swallowed and nodded.
"Yeah. We can do that."
He went over to the ship's control panel and set a course for Radiant Garden. The ship took off gently and left the world of Notre Dame behind.
Once the auto-pilot was online, Castle sat down on the floor next to Emi, his back to the wall. He wasn't going to ask about Jericho. He didn't feel like thinking about the future.

This better pay off eventually. Animositas barely paid attention to the pair leaving, having only moved to give them one chance to accomplish their escape. The words of thanks mattered as much as if they had been given to a wall. Maybe even less so. But, it did provide leverage for the future. Getting a human Keyblade Master to owe it a favor was sure to come in handy. For the time being, however, the Sentiment needed to deal with the humans at hand. “Demon!” they kept yelling, soldiers with spears coming towards it and trying to attack what they thought was a demonic teenage girl. The spears, however, couldn’t reach it where it stood, the few that tried getting the pole of the weapons burnt. The girl sighed, jumping out of the fire and landing in between a circle of spearmen. Most of them took a step back in fear, while others clearly felt uncomfortable at the sight of a naked teenage girl. Not wanting to give them any chance to attack, the armor shifted its weapon quickly into its rifle form, quickly aiming and blasting away the head of a soldier to its right. Another cried out and launched itself at the Sentiment, finding his attack blocked and countered with the blunt edge of the Havoc, Animositas moving quickly behind him and crushing his spine with a quick attack. Jumping over the falling body it attacked another soldier with a downwards attack from the air, mangling the man’s body under the weight of the weapon, his blood splattering the surroundings and the girl. This display seemed to be enough to get the general population to run away for their lives, screaming in fear, while the soldiers that remained formed a perimeter around the Sentiment, none of them willing to strike. With one last attack, Animositas raised its rifle and quickly started firing in a circle at the guards, hitting many of them and causing them to fall to the ground either dead or in pain. Only a couple remained standing, terrified at the sight. “This is boring,” the naked girl spoke softly, the fire in her red hair long having stopped, leaving it much shorter and messy than before. The armor’s weapon changed back into its blade form, raising it forward and opening a large blue portal. Turning its head towards the survivors, it smiled at them and then walked into the portal, finally leaving the world.
