Xaldin had made it out of the frying pan, and was now up to his dreads in flames. He had skipped the oven completely. After losing to Sora Xaldin made his escape, and bid his time until he felt strong enough to begin seeking his heart anew. Of course without any other Organization member around to help him out, it was going to be a rather long and perhaps even boring quest. That was until today.
Xaldin had seen this thing hunting before, and after days of secretly observing, he concluded that if he hit the thing hard and fast, he would be able to take it out without too much trouble. That was until he actually tried to take it out. This thing, whatever it was had not even been using a portion of its power hunting the various things it hunted, for apparently they were not dangerous enough to pose as anything more than an annoyance. Xaldin on the other hand was not a mere pest waiting to be swatted away, he was no fly on the wall. No, he was a threat, something that could very well mean the end of its life. And so it let loose.
Xaldin had come in gliding along the ground, as his lances quickly readied themselves to strike. As soon as they were within range, they took off, striking at this monster from every direction. At first the demon merely swatted them away, but after a few moments of swatting them away over and over again, it realized it might be in trouble. It let out a roar, and grabbed three of the four lances that were attacking it. It threw them away from it, and they landed merely inches outside of Xaldin's ability to recall them. It should have been then that Xaldin realized this was no ordinary foe.
He had been circling this enemy, looking for anything he perceived to be a weak spot, a point where a single strike could do massive damage. After his target threw his lances away however, it quickly spun, and began to target the Lancer. It swung its fists multiple times, but Xaldin always seemed to be one step ahead of him, or so to speak. But it would seem that this would not last for long. The winds howled, warning the wind master of incoming danger, but by the time he reacted, it was too late. Flames swirled around him, traveling up farther than he could jump, and thicker than his wind could blow a hole through.
Xaldin for all intensive purposes, was trapped. And he was not a happy camper. He dashed toward the side nearest his lances, and the moment he was within range, he beckoned them to him. They shot through the flames, and straight at their master's enemy. They cut the beast, and he snatched one out of the air and threw it at Xaldin. It cut his cheeck, causing him to bleed. The rest pierced its hide, and Xaldin jumped into the air. The beast roared, and ripped out the lances. As Xaldin came down at his enemy, two spears pointed at its head, it stabbed at him with his own spear. Unable to avoid the attack, he was impaled through where his heart would have been.
"Damn!" was all he could manage to say as the beast then slammed him to the ground. His vision started to become blurry, and he saw blood pooling beside him.
"Blood? But how?" He was without a heart, blood no longer flowed through his veins. Or so he thought. Just then he realized that within his chest something was thumping very lightly, as if it was about to quit working. Xaldin was no more, he was Dilan once again. Or as close to being Dilan as he could be. He had regained his heart, though he knew not how.
"When did this?" he started to say, but before he could finish, his heart stopped beating, and his world went black. It would appear that both Xaldin and Dilan would be no more. Their story would only be spoken by the winds, and for those who knew not what they said, would never know the tragedy that occurred this day. Today a Nobody became whole, and then had it all stripped away from him in the blink of an eye. The winds would cry forever more, and those who had seen this tragic event would feel nothing more than sorrow for the stranger that had died. They had warned him that fighting it was not a wise decision. But it appeared that this wind master was far too stubborn to be convinced of this.

Something Breath on FS had sent me some time ago and had forgotten about. He had told me I could share it with those on here, but never got around to it. It was something he'd written before he ever actually portrayed Xaldin as a character on a site. So here ya go.
