In and out. In and out.
His breath slow and paced, Xigbar stared through his rifle. Standing at the top of the tower at Station Heights, he searched for his prey. A massive heartless had been sighted, so The Organization sent him and the only one capable of harvesting its heart to deal with it. All he had to do was wait for the bait to bring him back.
“Blondie sure is taking his time,” he mumbled, annoyed with the plan the Keyblade bearer had chosen. Not that he could complain, the kid obviously didn’t like him, especially not after the stunt he pulled at Olympus Colosseum not that long before, so not sticking together for a while was working wonders for both of them.
It was by the time his patience was starting to run out that things got interesting. The human – or more accurately, nobody bait - had drawn the heartless to his location, barely holding his ground against it. A wyvern-class, soaring the skies and diving to strike its own prey, who was predictably barely dodging it. Knowing the kid would survive on his own for long enough, he aimed at the heartless with his rifle. Its movements were hectic and chaotic, making it difficult to keep a steady aim on it, but the Freeshooter carried on regardless. All he needed was one opening. A rain of bullets could work, but why waste them?
An opportunity presented itself the moment Roxas dodged one particular dive from the beast, which caused it to crash head first into the ground and remain there for about two seconds. The chance was not wasted, a bullet sent to the side of its face almost instantly. It shattered the side of the wyvern’s face, but it was far from dead. On the contrary, now the beast knew there was a second cloaked character in the area, and to add insult to injury, he possessed a higher vantage point than the winged beast.
“Oh fudge… Nice plan tiger!” he yelled as he jumped from the tower, dodging a charge from the wyvern. He swiftly landed at the foot of the stairs to the station entrance, the blonde haired kid running to his side.
“How was I supposed to know a bullet to its head wouldn’t work?” Roxas looked annoyed, and with good reason. He had allowed the heartless to toy with him for minutes just so that Xigbar would have a clear shot, and it had proven fruitless. Cuts and bruises, all for nothing.
“You realize YOU are the one who needs to slay that thing, right kiddo?” Xigbar pointed out the obvious, staring at the beast that circled the skies, looking down at them as if they were inferior creatures. He turned his head to the kid for a second, seeing him lower his. He had obviously forgotten about that one little detail, and instead had focused only on taking down the beast that terrorized Twilight Town.
“Bugger,” he sighed, the heartless wasn’t coming down any time soon, and Xigbar was getting tired of those shenanigans. “C´mere kid,” he grabbed Blondie by the arm and warped themselves to the skies above the wyvern. Freefalling, he pulled from the kid’s arm and threw him down towards the heartless. The initial shock from the maneuver wore off after a second, and Roxas managed to slice the heartless’ neck on his way down, followed quickly by a midair corridor of darkness.
“Wow, nice fall,” Xigbar mocked the kid after seeing him slam his body against the ground, despite the use of a corridor to soften his fall. In fact, the exit corridor appeared only a few feet above the ground, and it didn’t break the fall, so all it did was cut the distance in half. The teen raised his head at his comment, his eyes throwing knives at his elder. “Why do you always have to look at me like that?”
