To Chase or Not to Chase? While watching Raen finish off the remaining Heartless, Lanying also couldn't help but laugh a little at the absurdity of their current topic of conversation. On one level, it was completely wrong, but on another level, it was just a touch amusing, if also a little disturbing. She would never have had this sort of conversation back on her world. With anyone. Being able to now, even under the circumstances, was quite refreshing to her. Raen then asked her about the third Heartless, which drew her focus back to the situation at hand. "I tossed it into that other room." She indicated the opening they had just come through. "But it hasn't come back, so...perhaps it has learned its lesson." She gave a confident nod, yet her sword remained in her hand. Just in case. She began to walk toward the first chamber, then stopped and turned around to face Raen. "Do you think we should make certain that it's truly gone? Or would you rather press forward into...this whale?" She was still having a little trouble grasping that they were, in fact, inside a whale. Hopefully, not all the other worlds they might visit would be this strange.

Demyx had sat down at this point, having realized he had gone back into the first chamber he had started out in. "Ugh, this is so stupid! How am I supposed to find any heartless in here?!" he complained. Man, Zexion sure picked quite the world to send him to today. He'd make sure to never ever accept a mission here ever.
He got up, looking at both the exits. He figured he could just go back to the first door he tried again, and try a different door. That was a plan anyway. He then looked over toward that way and saw one of those ghost heartless come out from there. He looked at it for a moment, but ignored it. It wasn't his target after all.
He started walking toward the doorway. "Man, I hope I find this thing soon, this place is driving me nuts..." he complained. Why did he always have to get stuck with the hard jobs? It wasn't fair. When he got back, man, he would definitely attempt at trying to do something about it. Probably.

Well, Look Who It Is... " Well, there's nothing left to do in this room," Raen reasoned. After all, it was a dead end with sections of it too high to reach, and the only thing they found were Heartless. Plus, the sooner they got out of here the better. " We may as well take the higher road and see where that leads. Hopefully it'll take us where we need to go to make this beast sneeze." He walked off towards the entrance they came through, his sword still unsheathed just in case that Heartless hadn't had enough yet. Despite being in one of the worst possible situations he could fathom, there was a small glimmer of luck to be found. Just as Raen walked back into the first chambers, he almost bumped in the cloaked man he had seen earlier. A part of him wanted to eliminate the abomination right now--Nobodies weren't supposed to exist in the first place, so why should they be walking around? And yet, he knew that he needed information, namely on Zexion. He knew it wasn't rational, since Zexion had never even done anything to Raen except give him information and the truth. And yet, there was something he just didn't like about him, outside of being a Nobody. Of course, a part of him, that tiny voice in the back of his head, spoke the truth: He reminds you of yourself. If you became a Nobody, that's what you would become. Even now, you're afraid of becoming like him.All of those thoughts collided against each other in his mind within a mere moment, but he made sure it didn't show. Instead, he simply said, " Oh, I'm sorry, excuse m--wait...I'm not dreaming, right?" He smiled and laughed a little. He immediately began to barrage Demyx with questions. " How'd you get in here? Were you swallowed by the whale too? Where's your ship? We thought we were the only ones here!" Raen wasn't sure if he was laying this on too thickly, but he figured it'd be best to show desperation, since, well, he was kind of desperate.

Demyx still mumbled complaints about his current mission and how Zexion had sent him on it as we walked to the doorway. Though before he got to the doorway and man and a woman appeared from the other side. Demyx jumped back, startled. He wasn't expecting anyone to be here. Yet, somehow two people where here inside this whale.
Did that mean these people actually......lived here? Though Demyx quickly dismissed the thought, that was too stupid an idea, even for him. Though soon the man started bombarding him with questions. Mostly having to do with how he got in here. Well he had two options at this point, tell the truth or lie. Or he could be vague and answer in a roundabout way, though he wasn't exactly all that good at that.
"Uh, well...." he started off trying to think of something fast. "I don't exactly, like, have a ship," It was a true statement, but it wasn't like he was going to exactly say he used corridors of darkness just yet. "and I like don't exactly remember how I got trapped here. Been trying to look for an exit and nothing. I saw, like, this giant heartless thing and I thought maybe if I found it and destroyed it, it'd somehow free me from the whale, You guys haven't seen any heartless have you?" The parts about actually being stuck here were of course a lie, but he didn't expect to be treated very nicely if he said he was a nobody, though maybe they'd help him find the heartless he need to get rid off. If he was lucky maybe he still wouldn't have to do any actual work.

And Who Might You Be? Lanying wasn't sure if she liked the idea of making a whale sneeze, especially a whale that was this size. Who knew what sort of gale force winds would result? And if they found the place where they could induce a sneeze, there was not guarantee they could get back to the ship in time to catch the wind, so to speak. But she supposed they would deal with those issues when the time came. Raen was moving toward the door to the previous chamber, so Lanying followed him through. To her surprise, that cloaked mystery man was waiting just on the other side. Raen walked right up to him and began speaking as if he knew the person, and Lanying was unsure if he was simply putting on an act or if he truly did know this cloaked man. When the stranger spoke, he did so in a very casual manner, something Lanying was not used to. But he said that he didn't have a ship, which was unusual. How else would he have gotten in here? She had gathered from what Raen had said earlier that this whale wandered the stars. She kept her suspicions to herself, though, and hoped Raen knew what he was doing. The information about the presence of a large Heartless in the whale caught her attention. Even if killing the Heartless may or may not be the key to their escape, she wouldn't balk at the chance to eliminate another one. The creatures were destructive and didn't deserve to live. "I hate to interrupt the introductions--or lack thereof--but if there's a Heartless in here somewhere, shouldn't we be focused on getting rid of it? And perhaps even...getting out of here?"

Three's Company When Lanying mentioned that they should just get on with tracking down and killing the Heartless, Raen clapped his hands together. " Well, since it seems our goals coincide I guess we'll be working together, then. After all, if it is a giant Heartless, three on one just means it will be easier to defeat it and possibly get out of here. Oh, yes, my name's Raegan, by the way." He gave Demyx a rather nice smile, trying to stick with his 'character' as it were. Of course, behind that smile, Raen already knew what he was going to do with Demyx. As soon as they found the Heartless, he'd put Demyx between himself and the creature, or he might just "accidentally" separate himself from Lanying in one of these maze like rooms, and then interrogate the man. Of course, the latter plan immediately threw his conscience into overdrive and scolded him for even thinking about that. He'd have to find some way to get Demyx to talk. Hopefully he wouldn't have to resort to force--that would be very difficult to explain, and he also wasn't one to solely judge by appearances. Even Shadow Heartless can be deadly, despite being so weak: this man wasn't any different. If he could summon Nobodies like Zexion, then he wouldn't stand much of a chance. As Raen was getting ready to leave, he just realized something, and turned to ask Demyx, " Say, do you have any idea where this Heartless might be? Do you know your way around here at all?" He could already guess the answer, but he just liked to get as much data as possible.

"Sounds like it," Demyx responded to Raen when he said that it sounded like they would be working together. Talk about luck, now he wouldn't be taking out that Parasite Cage all by himself. Maybe he could even weasel his way in to not actually doing anything in the fight as well, though somehow he doubted that. He then kind of gave a bit of a puzzled look to Raen's smile, the guy seemed waaaay to chipper for being inside a whale.
"Demyx," he told the two. He began to follow after Raen, but then he stopped and asked him if he knew his way around here. "Like, I wish," he responded. "If I did, I probably would be out of here already. All the chambers just look the same, its really annoying..." This guy asked a lot of questions of him and it was getting a bit annoying, which showed in his tone of voice. But Demyx decided not to really give it much thought, since if it meant they'd help him take down the heartless then it was something he could put up with.
He headed back towards the area he had come from, having decided that going back to were they had come from and using a corridor of darkness to reach the other areas probably wouldn't be a good idea to do in front of them. "Well then, let's see if we can actually find that thing and get out of here," he said as he went through the next area.

Obstacles The hope that this new person--Demyx, he said his name was--actually knew how to navigate this whale dissipated before it could really form. He had no ship and no idea how to get anywhere in here. Wonderful. Since she was the only person left who had not made any introductions, she offered Demyx her name while they moved toward one of the chamber's exits. "My name is Lanying. And are you certain you don't know where you're--" She had to stop talking then, for when they passed through the exit, she found that it dropped them straight down into this new chamber. Just to be safe, she made sure to tuck into a ball and rolled a little upon hitting the ground. Though she had not landed on her feet, she immediately sprang up with cat-like grace. A quick glance around the chamber told her that they were right next to yet another dead end. How in the world did boards gather this neatly inside a whale? Before she could ascertain whether or not Raen and Demyx had also made it into the chamber, one of those giant, round Heartless appeared right in front of the only attainable exit in this room. She remembered having fought and defeated one of these back in the throne room on her home world. The Large Body shuffled a few paces forward, almost as if it was daring her to try getting past it. Unfortunately, with the narrow pathway to the exit, such a prospect was going to be difficult. She tightened her grip on Allegretto and gritted her teeth. "Heartless, Heartless, and more Heartless," she muttered. "Loathsome whale..."

Mind the Gap Raen didn't think he could despise this world anymore than he already did...and then he fell about ten feet from the opening he just walked through. Luckily, he landed on his hands and knees. If he had face-planted then he would probably have just started stabbing the whale to try and cause it as much pain as possible. Instead, he just stood up, brushed himself off, and looked ahead...to see Lanying staring down a Large Body Heartless. Raen couldn't help but think that things were going from bad to worse. Drawing his sword, Raen let out a rather distasteful grumbling sound. " I've had it with these Heartless and with this whale." He really was not in the mood to fight these guys anymore, but if they were standing in his way and he didn't see many other options. To make matter worse, if that were possible, he couldn't really get around the Heartless because of the cramped nature of the room. " Anyone got any ideas? We can't really get around him and attack from both sides." He could try an Ice Fang from behind, but that would just push it forward, reducing their space. He wasn't ready to take that gamble just yet.

Unlike the other two, Demyx already knew about the giant drop and was expecting it. He forgot to tell them about it, and almost forgot himself. However, he managed to land a bit better then the other two had. "Uh, oops. Forgot about that drop," he said to them. Though then his attention was turned to the heartless in front of them a Large Body. Normally Demyx would ignore it, but these two here probably wouldn't.
Though maybe they would if they just got it out of their way. He summoned his sitar. "I got one," he told them and started playing. It might not have seemed like anything was happening right away, but soon a circle of water appeared from below the Large Body and just as suddenly a geyser of water shot out from below it, causing it to launch in the air and land on the level above them. His sitar then disappeared from his hands.
"Way's clear" he said plainly. He started moving forward to the doorway in front of them. "Let's keep on going," Hopefully they could just avoid any other heartless battles, he hated doing actual work.

I'm Fine With the Avoidance Route
The Heartless situation was beginning to get on Lanying's nerves. She still didn't understand why there were Heartless in this whale to begin with. Honestly, didn't the creatures have standards? There weren't an abundance of hearts to be harvested inside a whale, after all. Unless, of course, people getting swallowed was a regular occurrence. Even still, if Lanying were in their position, she certainly wouldn't enjoy being in this smelly, disgusting environment.
She focused her attention back on the Large Body and heard Raen say something rather unhelpful. But she resisted the urge to point out to him that he was stating the obvious. She didn't have to resist for long, for their newest companion called forth an instrument from thin air and began plucking several notes out of it. At first, she was confused. Why in the world would he choose now to play songs?
But then her answer arrived in the form of a giant geyser of water that tossed the Large Body up onto a higher platform, clearing the way for them to continue. She was struck with the sudden realization that his abilities functioned in a very similar manner to hers. They both used music--he on his instrument and she with her voice--to manipulate water. This was the first time she had ever encountered anyone like this.
With the way clear, she wasn't going to sit around in contemplation, though. Taking the initiative, she walked boldly toward the new exit. "The fewer Heartless we have to fight, the better. We should conserve our strength for the giant Heartless we're seeking."

Complications Raen couldn't contain his surprise at seeing the seemingly oafish Nobody launch a Large Body twenty feet into the air and onto one of the higher platforms by simply strumming a few notes a guitar. Raen was seriously beginning to think of changing his plans. If this man could do that, then he would have to tread very carefully in asking questions. His feet began following the two while his mind was still formulating new ideas, most of which were either too risky or just downright stupid. Then he thought of the simplest possible idea. Seeing Lanying go and take the lead, Raen caught up with Demyx, and they were a good three or four yards behind her. He said to Demyx, quietly enough so that only Demyx could hear him. " Man, you guys keep getting me out of trouble." Raen chuckled to himself a bit. " Why, just the other week, a guy wearing that same cloak saved me from some Heartless. His name was like, Zexy-something. Can't really remember, I was pretty out of it. He wasn't all that friendly, though--like he blamed me for getting snuck up on by Heartless." Raen was finding it easier and easier to stay in character, so hopefully his plan wasn't about to blow up in his face. Still, data is data--if Demyx ran then Raen would know that Zexion and Demyx knew each other.

"I totally agree," Demyx said to Lanying. It was nice to have someone be on the same page as him, what was the point in fighting other heartless anyway? The giant one was the only one that mattered there was no point to fighting anything else. Lanying took the lead and Demyx followed after her. He kind of liked that she did, he never liked taking the lead much to being with.
As he walked Raen soon came up to him. he started to talk though only in a hushed tone. Apparently he had seen another in a cloak like his and it sounded like it was Zexion. "Yeah, Zexion's a real jerk," he said to him, though not in the same hushed tones Raen was speaking in. "I mean the guy just needs to like, chill out or something. Hate how he always blames me for like....everything,"
He sighed, thinking about how it was Zexion's fault he was hear now. "Don't let him bug you too much, he finds a way to blame you for things even if you like weren't even there," he told Raen. He wanted to complain more about him, but even Demyx realized that would slip up information that he couldn't give away. Plus what harm was there in letting this guy know that he knew Zexion? It wasn't like it proved anything else.

Tentative Options
They encountered no further resistance in their movement from their current chamber to the next one. However, the next chamber put them on a small platform with not so much room to move around on. Lanying noted the presence of a smaller platform over their heads and one lone barrel sitting nearby. There was another passageway that led...somewhere. It might have even led back to a chamber they had already been to. This place was a maze, and it was quite frustrating.
While she was pondering their next direction, she heard Raen and Demyx enter the chamber right behind her. Demyx was saying something rather loudly which sounded like a response to something Raen had said that she hadn't caught. He mentioned someone named Zexion and commented that whoever this person was possessed the temperament of a jerk. She silently wondered at the connection between Demyx and this Zexion. For some reason, the fact that both of their names contained the letter "x" stuck out to her. Perhaps it was of no significance, but it was unusual enough for her to take note. Since Demyx had brought up Zexion, she assumed that Raen must also know him. Though, why he was persisting in this weird act of his was beyond her.
She turned to face them both, arms crossed just beneath her chest. "I could be wrong, but I think that if we go down there..." She pointed to the lower region of the chamber. "...we'll end up where we've already been. But I'm not sure if going that way..." She pointed toward the lone exit they could reach from their current position. "...will take us anywhere new, either. And I'm not certain what to make of that." Finally, she indicated the barrel and the other platform above them. "Perhaps we could try getting up there using that as a step?"

Nothing Ventured, Nothing Gained " I can tell," Raen replied to Demyx's comment about Zexion blaming people for no reason. He had gotten his confirmation that Demyx both knew and worked with Zexion. Now to back off a bit and wait to get some more answers. There was no way Demyx would just straight up say where they operated from, or if there were more of them. Raen didn't believe that there were just two people who just happened to be Nobodies, who just happened to wear the same cloak, and who just happened to randomly show up in worlds. There were more of them, and they had to operate somewhere...but where? " Whatever, I'll figure that out later." They wound up on one of the raised platforms with another entrance to their left, but the room they'd been to below them. He heard Lanying mention that the barrel could probably be used as a step to reach the platform above them. There was no way they'd reach it without some assistance, and that barrel looked sturdy enough. " Well, if you guys won't, then I guess I will." Raen clambered on top of the barrel and did a small hop on it and shifted his weight back and forth. " Seems sturdy enough." Jumping up to the platform, Raen managed to dig his fingers into it, though the surface wasn't as soft as the fleshy floor. Lifting himself up onto it, he looked at the raised portion on the other side of the room. Looking down at Demyx and Lanying, he smiled and said, " Well, like they say: Nothing ventured, nothing gained." With a grunt, he leaped across the chasm. Time, much like his heart, seemed to stop as he drifted through the air, until both inevitably skipped a beat on his landing. The ground made a rather sickening squishing sound upon his landing, even more so by his act of tucking and rolling to avoid injury. Standing up and brushing off is pants and jacket, he looked at the two on the other side of the gap. " The drop takes you by surprise, but it's not too bad." Stepping heavily on the ground a few times, he said, " As disgusting as it is, the ground is a nice cushion."
