Let’s get the basics down first.
Name: Raegan Julius Sarmon Nicknames: Raen (Pronounced: “RAIN”) Age: 20 Gender: Male Race: Human Homeworld: Traverse Town Alliance: Shadow
You’re just a puppet aren’t you? Played By: Nothingness Age: 18 Gender: Male Contact: PM Audition Link: N/A Other: N/A
So tell me a little bit about yourself.
Physical Aspects: He’s approximately 5’11”, and weighs in at around 150 lb. Light brown hair with dark streaks punctuated throughout fall to his shoulders, with the bangs carefully tucked behind his somewhat small ears. His body is thin and lean, quite bony around the joints, with a lightly tanned complexion, and his face is quite angular around the chin and jaw. Eyes the color of the night sky at dawn, a deep blue with golden and white flecks, peer out from his somber eyes. Beneath his thin nose is a mouth that is usually in a state of complacence—never frowning, yet not quite smiling either. He wears white tennis shoes with black three contoured black streaks on their sides, blue jeans that are faded around the knees, a black leather belt with a loop for his rapier, and a white T-shirt that is mostly covered by an unzipped, grey hooded-jacket that is quite worn out around the bottom and sleeves. The jacket itself would be fairly uninteresting if not for a brown patch on the right shoulder, trimmed with green, and with a golden three-pointed star stitched into the center.
Persona: - Façade: He’s very calm in even the most dire of situations. He never lets his emotions get to him, and makes cold, calculated decisions remorselessly. Usually planning for anything three steps ahead, he can be prone to making the wrong move if something goes awry, although he improvises well enough. However, always having his priorities straight, he rarely goes against his better judgment in making a difficult choice. When he’s in the company of others, he becomes much more sociable and relaxed, if not seeming slightly aloof. When in battle, he wants nothing more to end the fight as quickly as possible with as little injury to himself or his allies. That attitude makes him come off as ruthless or cold, though he simply considers it to be something more akin to mercy towards the opponent.
- Inner Mind: His mind is a like a swarm of bees—stray thoughts irritating him to no end. He simply keeps his calm demeanor so as to give himself more confidence in his decisions. Always stuck in the past, he can’t seem to easily move on no matter what he does. After making difficult decisions, he always wonders what would’ve happened if he made a different choice, and thoughts like those tend to stick with him for a while. Despite his cold attitude, especially in combat, he puts his allies above himself. Whether or not it seems like that can be hard to discern.

- A silver-plated pocket watch that has the three-pointed star engraved onto the top half of it in a very decorative manner. This acts as a detector for Heartless. The second hand works when there are a few weak Heartless near. The minute hand when there are strong Heartless, or a large group of weak Heartless nearby. The hour hand only works when a large mass of Heartless is nearby, or an amazingly powerful Heartless is near.
Stand up and fight.
Weapon(s): Raen’s handcrafted, blue-gripped rapier, Fimbulvetr, never leaves his side. The blade is slightly over a yard in length, and the hilt has an intricate, flowing, lattice pattern of flat steel strands that wrap around each other, providing protection for the front half of the grip. The pommel is a small, tear-dropped shaped ice crystal that glows with an uncanny blue light whenever he uses an ability.
He fights just the way he thinks: precise and deadly. When he goes in for an attack it’s meant to deal as much damage to the opponent as possible. He’ll spend more time learning the opponent’s style and trying to find their weaknesses before actually going in for an attack. He fights very defensively and almost with a strange sort of grace. Not like dancing, but with very smooth and fluid motions, each leading cleanly into the next. However, when pressured enough he’ll take the offensive, or if he feels the target not worth his time.
ABILITIES SECTION:
Ice Fang Raen taps the tip of Fimbulvetr to the ground, and sends a thin line of ice towards the target. When it reaches the target, a curved blade of ice erupts in front of the target, the tip of the ice slashing upwards. Raen’s blade must touch some surface for this ability to work. If contact is broken before the ice trail reaches the target, the attack is interrupted.
Range: 10 foot radius across the ground, the ice blade is four feet high. Speed: One second for maximum range, and time for any other distance is fractional (1 ft=.1sec, 2 ft=.2sec, etc.). Blade appears within half of a second. Cooldown: Five posts Uses: Four times per battle Strength: Weak
Winter’s Howl Raen lifts his hand and releases a pulse of arctic air and ice shards that fly wildly about. The rush of air is strong enough to knock some small enemies down or knock them away a few feet.
Range: Five foot radius, 6 feet high Speed: Instant, ice shard appear within one second Cooldown: Three posts Uses: Three times per battle Strength: Weak
Frost’s Blessing Decreasing the temperature of the ambient air around him, Raen strengthens his abilities, making Ice Fang release a small shockwave of ice when it appears, and Winter’s Howl coats ground within its range in ice to freeze enemies in place. However, this ability makes fire attacks deal double damage to him while it’s active. If attacked while preparing to use this ability, it is interrupted.
Range: One foot radius, six feet high Speed: Four seconds, two post duration Cooldown: Four posts after duration ends Uses: Once per battle Strength: Weak
Everybody’s got a weakness or two; what are yours?
Elemental Weakness: Fire Other Weaknesses: Having too many allies around makes him indecisive and worry about all of them, breaking his focus. Also, muggy weather or very hot weather tends to make him feel sluggish and wear him out faster than normal.
What’s your story?
Born and raised in Traverse Town, Raen has had a front-row seat to seeing all kinds of people displaced from their worlds and appearing in Traverse Town. Not just seeing, though, as he also worked at the Traverse Town café for quite a while, and had met and talked with many of the people who had wound up in this town due to the destruction of their own worlds. As he heard more and learned more, he got the general idea of the Heartless’ infestation of the worlds, and the destruction they wrought upon them. Upon hearing so many tales of tragedy he began to work as a guardsman with the Traverse Town Shield, fighting off Heartless that entered the First District, so that way Traverse Town would never meet such a fate. Of course, he would only do this when he wasn’t at work or at school. There were quite a few others who handled that task and he had no problem letting them take care of it, especially since he was still very inexperienced in fighting, and used a sorry excuse for a sword that was so chipped it may as well have fallen apart at any moment. It wasn’t until he graduated from High School that the guards gave him the weapon he now uses, Fimbulvetr, a rapier crafted by the Moogles in the synthesis shop. The rapier itself is what allows Raen to use his abilities as the Ice Crystal grants him some control over the element. They also gave him the patch with their insignia—a three pointed star, and the pocket-watch as well, which serves as a small detector for Dark entities, pointing its hands to any nearby Heartless.
As time went on, and after he graduated school, he began to take a more active role in defending the town, much to his parent’s displeasure, though in the end they accepted it as his choice. As he continued to protect the town, he and the others guards began to notice something strange: the Heartless population was rapidly decreasing. On the outside they were happy, but within each of them, they knew something wasn’t right. When they began to talk to each other about this, none of them could come up with any reason for such a phenomenon. They had noticed that stars had begun to reappear in the sky, signaling the return of worlds and the return of Light in general, but it wasn’t until a whole day where no Heartless appeared that they came up with a theory. As the Light became stronger, the Darkness faded away. As with all things, a dual existence must be in balance. Life balances with Death. Heat balances with Cold. Light and Darkness must be balanced in the same way. That theory was proven when a large Darkside Heartless appeared in the middle of the First District one day, and only large Heartless would appear, though infrequently, from then on. As the Light grew stronger, the Darkness grew stronger as well.
Now that they realize this, they are morally divided on the issue: should they continue to defeat the Heartless, or test their theory and risk their world to restore balance? Disorder grew among them when many openly voiced their concerns should the balance tip one way or the other. After a while, disorder grew in their ranks, and they ultimately disbanded, leaving some still as guards, while others indefinitely gave up. Left in this situation, three of them left Traverse Town, Raen included, in a Gummi Ship destined for places unknown to look for an answer to their question. As they approached a town wrapped by the blaze of a twilight sun, a Heartless ship appeared and shot their craft down, sending them spiraling into the world.
On the grassy expanse of this world does Raen awake among the wreckage of his ship. The distant clocktower can be heard chiming, and the train can be heard above as it rattles across the elevated train tracks. In his dazed vision and mind he can make out a large hill and terraced city overlooking the plains. He struggles to get onto his feet…
It all comes down to this: make your choice.
You are presented with three weapons: a sword, a staff, and a shield. The sword represents the power of the warrior; invincible courage comes with this weapon as well as horrible destruction. The staff represents the power of the mystic; inner strength comes with this weapon as well as wonder and ruin. The shield represents the power of the guardian; kindness to aid friends comes with this weapon as well as a shield that will repel all.
Which one will you choose?
Chosen Weapon: Raen proudly holds the Shield
Defensive Blow You swing your weapon and then gather yourself into a blocking position, making yourself harder to damage. Until your next post, all damage you are dealt is reduced by one effectiveness point. All regular physical attacks deal no damage, Weak abilities deal damage as a physical attack, Moderate abilities deal 3/4 normal damage, Strong deal 5/6 damage, and super-Strong deal 7/8 normal damage.
Range: Melee Speed: Swing speed Cooldown: 4 posts Uses: 2 uses Strength: Weak
