So tell me a little bit about yourself.
Physical Aspects: Lanie is considered average, standing at 5’6’’ and weighing in at 128 pounds with a slight hourglass figure to boot. Her hair, honey blonde, is mostly straight, layered, and goes down to her shoulders. Most of the time, she wears it down with a tiny ponytail on the top, her bangs covering her forehead in an ever-so-slightly poofy manner. Her eyes are a soft blue, matching her rather pale skin well. She has long fingers and skinny hands, fitting for her organ playing. As for clothing, she is usually seen in a white, long-sleeved shirt along with a navy-blue bodice covering it. She then wears a black skirt that goes down to nearly her ankles and black moccasin-like shoes. It’s very impractical for any sort of physical activity, yes, and she’s not very fond of it. Once she is out of Notre Dame, she will find different clothing more suited to her own tastes.
Persona: - Façade:
In this world, a woman’s place is to speak when spoken to and be the moral center for the man. Lanie has no man, but she does the first one very well at first glance. She comes off as quiet and gentle, polite and graceful. She tries to maintain a sense of tranquility at all times and show only “good” emotions such as happiness, calmness, love, trust, and submission; she shows all of these to an extent, her main one being joy since she almost always seems happy. She does genuinely like being sweet and helping people, which is often seen when she is required to take care of her younger brothers and sisters. Every word she says, at least when she is around other people, is said with care.
Slightly contradicting all this, she is extremely determined in her pursuits, especially when it concerned her education or music. Her goal had been to become a learned woman with a higher education, especially in the arts that she was so fond of. Her drive behind this is to be able to get out of the world of Notre Dame. There’s more out there than just this world, or so she thinks. She is often told she is wrong, but that doesn’t sway her. Call her naïvely obstinate, but she clings to this belief. She desperately wants to be free and to get out of this rigid world.
- Inner Mind:
As mentioned before, she really wants to do away with the mask she wears of politeness and rigidity. She loves the idea of freedom and desperately wants it for herself. She is a sweet person at heart that does want the best for others, but she would often prefer to put herself first occasionally, which she does. Being told how to act, what to say, and what to do frustrates her to no end and she wants to be able to do all of these things on her own. However, there is also a fear in that: what happens when she’s on her own? Will she be able to protect herself? Will she ever get to go back home? She doesn’t want to leave her family all alone, but she does want to be free: this is the constant conflict she has.
Lanie is more of an impulsive person than she is planning, driven a lot by passion. While she may lack in the calculating and manipulative department, she does know how to read people very well by even the slightest facial expressions, body language, et cetera; empathetic in a way. That knowledge in mind, she tries to make herself unreadable and hide any trace of fear, sadness or anger, three emotions she considers “bad”; note, she is not always successful. She’s also known for being a bit of a klutz, but she truly does try to help people when given the opportunity.

What has your character done to make them who they are? What kind of family did they have, if any? What else has happened in your past that has caused your personality to come about the way it did? What exactly affected you and made you who you are today? Ten or more sentences please.
Elaine was born to Jean and Lucille Beaumont, the oldest out of six children: three brothers and two sisters. Her youngest sibling, Jacque, is ten years old while the one closest to her in age, Brigitte, is twenty. Jean worked in the stone mason guild while Lucille stayed home to take care of the family. Elaine was often responsible for helping do this very task, most of the time stuck with cooking, cleaning, or laundry. The family lived in a two-story home with three bedrooms, all of the girls and all of the boys each occupying one room. It was somewhat cramped, but it was livable.
From a young age, Elaine was a musician. She had a natural sense of rhythm early on and it was easy to tell that the music was her favorite part of going to Church. She adored the organ and begged to be taught how to play it. Her parents sooner or later gave in and let her have lessons, the only one of their female children to do anything outside of the home; after all, it was against the times to have a woman do anything like this. She became quite learned on the organ by the time she was well into her teens, she had surpassed her master. It was recommended that she play the organ in the Notre Dame Church itself, but she was never allowed to.
However, her father did use the connections that he had to let her have an education to become a nun. It was her way of resisting marriage and getting into the church at the same time. Through this, she learned Latin, which she never uses, and English that she does use. She learned a lot about the Church as well that she did not want to know, how even the beautiful Notre Dame had a corrupt Minister named Frollo. She never met with him herself before he died, but she heard of his wickedness.
Her education was discontinued when she was twenty for one singular reason: her magic. It was found out that she had special abilities that didn’t seem quite right. She knew she had them since she was at least eighteen, having made one fireball before and being able to heal small, everyday wounds she managed to get. She was able to keep them hidden up until a certain point. During a winter evening, she was walking home. It was snowing and chilly outside, something she would have loved to have had a fire for. As she was thinking this, she was walking by a house that was owned by one of the monks in the clergy. Almost out of nowhere, she was able to form a small ball of fire. Unfortunately, it easily got out of her control and onto the monk’s house. The monk made it outside along with his family, though his house was quickly brought to ruins.
The fire brought just about everyone’s attention to it, a mob quickly forming on the street. When asked where the fire came from, the monk simply pointed to Elaine. The mob, with that mentality, thought it best that she be burned for conjuring this “black magic”. However, before they could carry that out, two guards arrived on the scene and brought her straight to the church. The mob followed and alerted the priest’s attention through all of the noise. She was thrown down in front of him as her crime was explained and what the punishment should be. The priest agreed, despite her earnest pleas for life and that it was merely an accident.
The one thing that saved her was a young boy of the monk that had been hurt in the fire. He came forward and asked for healing in the middle of this from the priest. Without even thinking, Elaine moved in to heal him herself. His burns were healed and the mob was silenced because of this. This magic did not harm but did good. But her other magic burned the house of the monk down. What was to be done?
The priest eventually decided that her life would be spared because of the good magic. However, she was encouraged to never do this sort of magic again. The mob parted and everyone went home. Elaine kept this to herself in her family, never speaking of it. She grew very quiet in her house because of this. Shortly after this event, a new threat arose: these black creatures swarmed into the world and started to take many hearts. No one was sure what to really do with them at first, but it was obvious that they were threats. Many tried to attack and succeeded, but the creatures kept returning no matter how strong their efforts were.
These creatures still plague the world today, though not as strongly as they did initially. Elaine still lives at home, no longer receiving an education or anything of the sort. She believes that the creatures came from another world since they had never been seen here before. Her parents do not believe her, nor does anyone else. She seeks to prove them wrong and to travel away from this world to others. This world, full of rigidity and rules, needs to be escaped.
It all comes down to this: make your choice.
You are presented with three weapons: a sword, a staff, and a shield. The sword represents the power of the warrior; invincible courage comes with this weapon as well as horrible destruction. The staff represents the power of the mystic; inner strength comes with this weapon as well as wonder and ruin. The shield represents the power of the guardian; kindness to aid friends comes with this weapon as well as a shield that will repel all.
Which one will you choose?
Chosen Weapon: Shield
Guard Placing your weapon or shield in a defensive position, you block the efforts of a Weak ability and nullify it. This symbolizes the defensive properties of the Shield, and is broken by Guard Break.
Range: Melee Speed: N/A Cooldown: 2 posts Uses: 2 Strength: Weak
