Nothing to be said that hasn't been said before.
Ava just left. There was nothing left for him here, and everyone else was leaving. He had more important things to do elsewhere anyways...like figure out where the Champion went to. And he was gonna search for him, because he had already determined to make the Champion his friend, and he was not abandoning his goals like that. No, no he wasn't. The window closed behind him, multicolored lights winking out, the echoes of them not reaching as far as where Riku stood.
And he only barely had the strength to stand. It was like the snow was back, and all of the cold had sapped the strength from his limbs. She was gone. After all they had gone through, all of their fond memories...all of it. His promise...they'd be safe if they just stayed together, wouldn't they? They'd all be okay, if they watched each others' backs...but they weren't okay. Kairi wasn't okay. She was dead, gone, and now, there was nothing. A single tear fell from his face and dropped towards the ground, falling at speeds so slow, it seemed as though some deity had stopped time just to watch this near-deification of pure sorrow drop towards the ground, and, finally, strike.
Sorrow...yes, that's what this was. It wasn't so elementary as sadness. This was full-blown, madness-inducing sorrow, and there was nothing to be done about it. There wasn't any if-onlys, because he couldn't have done anything for her even if he was here. He walked numbly over to Sora and laid his hand on the boy's shoulder. They had just lost their closest friend in the universe, and there was nothing that he could say to make it better. All he could do was stand there, and remind himself that it was done, now, and the best thing for them--and what Kairi would want him to do--was to remind Sora he wasn't alone in his sadness. That they had both lost something, and in that mutual sadness, maybe, just maybe, they could find some way to leave a memorial to her that would be fitting.
But nothing would be fitting enough. Destiny Islands would be strangely silent without Kairi's voice crying out to them. Things would be different, and not in a good way. A second tear fell, and this one landed in a crack. It seeped down, creating a small river, and, somehow, the impurities fell away, and the water multiplied itself. It poured into a canyon, and trickled to the center where, after a few moments, a small plant pushed its way up from under the dust. It was the world's own memorial to the joyous life that had been lost this day.
