Bad News

Slash may or may not have relayed the message to everyone, which I really thank her for since it's a big deal, but I know I need to post this so the message gets to everyone.

My grandmother has cancer. The MRI results came back earlier and showed that it was in her brain as well as her lungs. They won't know if it's the fast-acting cancer until Monday or Tuesday from the bronchoscopy results. I just found this out about twenty minutes to half an hour ago as the message was relayed to my dad.

Needless to say, I'm not going to be posting for a while. I don't have a set timetable for that. For any threads that I'm in, just continue them without me. For the Eurydice thread(s), go ahead and start them if you want and go without me. I'm probably going to stay out of the IRC channel for now, but I'll hand over all of my other contact stuff in case you want it:

I'm so, so sorry to hear about this, Aly. I know what it's like to have a close family member battle cancer. If there's anything you need, don't hesitate to let me know. I'm sure everybody else feels the same way.

You and your family will be in my prayers, as well. I know you can get through this.

Ouch Aly, sorry to hear that. I had a relative who just recently fought off cancer in the lungs, not once but twice if I remember right, and I lost my great grandma a few years back to brain cancer. If you want to talk, just let me know.

Thank you Slash, Josh, Aerith and the rest of you. You guys are being truly awesome and I'm appreciating it a lot. I can't tell you how thankful I am. And Asa, what the hell are you doing back here? Didn't really appreciate that post to be blunt.

Anyway, I'll give the full update about what's going on so I don't have to say it over and over again in the IRC: We don't know much else about the cancer aside from this. She had a CAT scan, I believe full-body, done yesterday and I'll probably hear about the results of that by tomorrow (I'll edit this post when I get the information). We'll know the type of cancer it is on either Tuesday or Wednesday, or that's the game plan. She's experiencing sight flashes and there's a bit of swelling in her head, but she seems to be in somewhat good spirits-- as good as one can be.

I think that's all I've got to say on that front. For my threads, mainly the one in Traverse Town, if you could just cover for me Dan/Aerith, that would be really good and help finish the thread up. I'm sorry if I'm uppity with any of you and more reactive-- just really fried at this moment. Thanks for all of the support so far.

Edit, April 11, 2011: It's not the fast-moving cancer and she will be starting on radiation treatment tomorrow to get rid of the swelling in her head and hopefully reduce the size of the tumor on the frontal lobe (size of a quarter at the moment). She'll do that ten days before chemo. The time table for her is now anywhere between four months and four years (two years being realistic).
