August 7th The Ancient Man of Mystery had been stuck in the abyssal depths of the void for many days now, wondering just when he would be released. After having been dropped off in the desert, the Rift was kind enough to take him out of the sandstorm it dropped him off in within hours. And while he was glad for that, the strange, dark world of the Rift wasn't the kindest--no, not at all. Teeming with monsters, and nary a friendly face in sight, what could one possibly like? At last! A light at the end of the tunnel! Gilgamesh quickly took this opportunity and ran out of the Rift, finding himself in some very strange, glowy sort of place. There were all these moving panels and monitors, and he just couldn't make heads or tails of any of it. However, before he could leave, the Rift had closed up, trapping him there until it allowed him to leave. Or until he felt the need to call upon the Rift. It usually showed up when he wanted it to. Usually. Puffing out his chest, he made sure that any living being on the world knew of his presence. " Although I don't know where I am, there MUST be a reason the Rift brought me here! COME SWORDS OF LEGEND! I SHALL SEEK YOU OUT!" As usual, he had no idea that he couldn't leave the area he was currently in, rather defeating the purpose of his defiant announcement.

Not you again. --
First an old-fashioned world, now one almost in the future or something. Panels and monitors were everywhere, Kadaj giving them an odd look. What was he supposed to do here?! No one even seemed to be he--
Oh. Great. It was that guy from the Graveyard. An instantaneous grimace set on Kadaj's face now. What was he even doing here? There weren't any people to get swords from. Couldn't he see that? Well, he was here, but the guy wasn't going to get Souba by any chance. He'd have to kill the remnant first, which also wasn't going to happen. It didn't matter how many arms or swords he had. Kadaj would fight him and win.
"No swords of legend here," he said, walking up to GILGAMESH. He then grabbed his Souba from its sheathe, pointing it straight at the other and grinning. "But I am. I don't think we ever finished our fight, did we?" Yes, why not just pick a fight with a six armed man in a world you've never been in? That's intelligent Kadaj, very intelligent.

Your sword will be forfeit to me...THIS TIME! Well, look who decided to show up! Yes, the Rift must have decided this for him. The souba will be his! Standing up tall, Gilgamesh's voice echoed throughout the empty space around them. " No, we did not! NOW LET US FIGHT AS MEN! COME!" Drawing out the Genji Katana from the Rift, Gilgamesh swung it outwards and accidentally hit the monitor. Before he knew what was happening, both him and Kadaj had been transported to a large, circular room. Completely baffled by the sudden change of scenery, Gilgamesh paused and looked around. " Some sinister effect of the Rift? No, this isn't. Where are we?" As he looked around, a group of twenty Shadow Heartless appeared, followed by a dozen Soldier Heartless. " What manner of monsters are these!?" Gilgamesh cried, drawing the Tournesol out of the Rift. Turning to Kadaj, he quickly spat out, " Our duel shall be put on hold until these interlopers are put down!" Although he didn't say it, he certainly wouldn't have any qualms about Kadaj dying and dropping the souba. None at all.

I should have just made these creatures leave. I never think of that. --
Just as he was about to jump at GILGAMESH, they were transported into a circular room. Kadaj quickly looked around the room, not even sure how they got there. The guy was asking him too. "Pfft, like I know," was his answer, Heartless appearing almost directly after he said that. Twenty of one kind, ten of another-- Kadaj never bothered memorizing their names, even though he controlled them half the time. How did the guy not know what they were though? Whatever, they were dead. Especially for interfering with such an important duel.
Kadaj wasn't bothered at all by slashing into one shadow Heartless after another, using his superior speed to his advantage. He started off with one, three quick slashes later it was gone. Onto the next, same thing. They weren't a challenge, not these Heartless. Another Heartless, three slashes, gone. What about the... Soldiers? Yeah, those were their names. He jumped in the air and brought his sword down on them, being his typical dramatic self. It went down in four slashes. Pathetic.
"Is this it? Really?" Kadaj asked, raising his hands in the air dramatically for a second. Then it was back to Soldier Heartless fighting. Another one down, and then another. The quicker he did this, the quicker he could kill GILGAMESH.

Just what ARE these? Sensing how serious the situation was--being vastly outnumbered by these unknown creatures--Gilgamesh felt the need to draw the other four fake swords of legend! The Buster Sword, Revolver, Orihalcum, and Brotherhood were promptly pulled from the Rift and into Gilgamesh's hands. " Face my wrath, foul demons!" Rushing into battle, he immediately swept three Shadows up off of the ground, bringing the three blades in his other arms down on them. He couldn't help but be baffled at the way they died. " Vanishing in black smoke!? Just what are these!?" No matter, though! They would all be destroyed! Continuing his charge, he ran into the thick of things, bringing his blades down upon any Shadow foolish enough to openly confront him. A few soldiers challenged him, but with no more than a quick, " Hah!" he spun himself around in a circle, tearing through their armor and making them disappear back to whence they came. Seeing all of the Heartless dispatched, he turned his blades onto Kadaj. Well, until another wave of Heartless appeared. This time it was five Large Bodies and a dozen Search Ghosts. " Interlopers!" He cried, " You dare continue! Fall before our might!" Once again, Gilgamesh rushed into the fray...

They are pissing me off. So they will die. --
Both of them were fast, killing off these Heartless with extreme ease. This was barely a challenge at all, not to great swordsmen such as themselves. Well, Kadaj at least. Just because Gilgamesh had more than two arms didn't make him a good fighter, not in the remnant's book. He was about to prove that too, ready to lunge at him when even more Heartless showed up. Really? Why did they have to keep interrupting the more important battle here?
"Heartless, you can leave now," he told them impatiently. Unfortunately, that didn't make the Heartless disappear and leave the fighters alone. Damn them. They should listen to him. Whatever, he'd kill them for not listening. The big ones first. Infusing his sword with darkness, he jumped straight for one of the Large Bodies, appearing behind it and slashing straight through it. It was gone in two hits, as was the next one and the one after that.
Then one of those ghosts had the nerve to attack him from behind. How dare they. He jumped straight at it, slashing through it once with the Souba before it disappeared. That was the problem with the ghosts-- they floated. Kadaj found himself jumping into the air as he destroyed two more, then another two. Why couldn't these Heartless just leave?!

GILGAMESH CHANGE! Gilgamesh put all his might into one swing, but found it rebounded off of the Large Body's stomach. He tried again, but the same thing happened. His frustration peaking after being rejected twice, he jumped back, raising Tournesol into the air, crying to the heavens, " Prepare yourself, foul beast! For you shall bear witness to my true form! IT!" He stomped his right foot. " IS!" He bent backwards and spread his arms out. " MORPHING TIME!" As he shouted this, his body underwent a massive change. The clothing on his torso vanished, revealing deep, mahogany colored skin, and two more arms sprouted out from his back. Large fangs jutted out from his mouth, and the size of his body seemed to increase as muscles bulged from his arms. Drawing his last two swords--Zantetsuken and the Wyrmhero Blade--from the Rift, he charged at the Large Body, cleaving the Heartless in two. " Fall before me!" He shouted, slicing the second Large Body in half. Turning his sights to the Search Ghosts, he leaped higher than any normal person could, and brought his sword down upon two of them while a third vanished. One Heartless tried to attack him from behind, but Gilgamesh simply dispatched it with a quick swipe of an arm on his back. After defeating the remaining Heartless with ease, Gilgamesh, for the third time, turned his attention to Kadaj, but was interrupted for the second time by Heartless appearing. This one, however, was of a much more imposing stature than the previous ones. It was a strange chameleon-like Heartless, followed in tow by two dozen Power Wilds. " Perhaps we shall get to our duel when this is over." He grunted, both annoyed and thrilled at the prospect of a duel. Kadaj stays the same! --
Gilgamesh talked. A lot. Kadaj was a quieter one during battle, not one for a lot of taunts during the actual fight. But Gilgamesh just seemed to be talking to the Heartless before he--... what the hell? He just morphed, growing in size and gaining two more arms. Really? Did he think that all of those arms would help him fight? He had all of those swords, but that wasn't going to stop Kadaj beating him by the time they got to duel.
Which would be right now. The Heartless were gone and the two fighters turned to each other again. Kadaj was more than ready to show this guy what he was made of. But no, another Heartless showed up, a big one with two monkey ones he hadn't seen before. "Then let's make this over quickly," he said to Gilgamesh, jumping straight for the chameleon Heartless's face. He managed to get in six quick hits before it jumped and moved. Fine, other Heartless would die. He went for them next, finishing them both in a combined seven hits.

Say, maybe we could be friends after this! Well, upon stopping for a minute to watch the swordsman fight, Gilgamesh was impressed with both the speed and strength which Kadaj possessed. He nodded his head as if surveying a prize fighter in the ring and the prospects associated with him. " Yes, with great haste!" Gilgamesh replied to Kadaj's comment. All the while he had been observing Kadaj's fighting, a large group of the Power Wilds had started walking around behind him, unbeknownst to the self-proclaimed Legendary Sword Hunter. Before he could do anything, the ten Heartless had jumped on him, bringing him to the ground with a surprised cry. " Cowards!" He roared, standing up and cutting every which-way with his swords, shredding the monkey Heartless. " There was something in my eye!" Smooth, very smooth cover. Turning his attention now to the Sneak Army, he ran forward and brought all eight swords to the Heartless's temple, only to have the creature deftly avoid it with a long jump to the left. Gilgamesh continued to chase it, repeating the same procedure about four times before the Sneak Army decided to become invisible, bewildering the swordsman.

Us? Friends? Right. --
After his brief little fight with the Power Wilds, they seemed to be heading over to Gilgamesh instead of him. A whole group of them jumped from behind and attacked him. Pfft, pathetic. He should have seen that coming before he fell to the floor. That's all Kadaj could think until he got himself up with all of his swords destroying every single last Heartless in his range. That was pretty darn impressive, he supposed. And so was him bringing all eight swords at the Heartless.
Until it disappeared. "Tch," was the only thing that came out of his mouth. Now how the hell were they supposed to fight this thing? Unless they could trap it, they would just be chasing it around the room until it decided to be visible again. Not only would that just piss Kadaj off since he liked to actually see his opponents, but it would make this fight longer. And he really wanted to fight Gilgamesh.
Maybe he could still trap the Heartless though. He had a relative idea where he was since Gilgamesh just went invisible. Kadaj grinned, running and dragging Souba along the ground in a small, circular area around the Heartless. Fire sprung up, trapping it a little bit... unless it decided to jump over it. Hopefully it wouldn't do that. After he finished this, still grinning, he jumped straight for where the Heartless was... and missed. He landed on the ground, hitting air.
"Come on, don't be shy," he taunted, searching around. He heard noise behind where he landed and he immediately slashed there milliseconds later. He found it. Though, after about six slashes, it jumped... over the fire. Damn it. Kadaj jumped over the fire and went after where he thought it went, the darkness leaving his blade.

I'mma wrangle dis here crittur! Ah, even more impressive! This swordsman would be a worthy foe, indeed! And not only that, it would make his sword an even better one to have! Just look at how it caught on fire like that--only a legendary sword could possibly be able to do that! He was already being lost in the daydreams of possessing a sword of such caliber. However, once again, he was caught off guard and jumped by the remaining dozen monkey Heartless. This time, however, he had a plan...sort of. Just before the Power Wilds could land on their target, Enkidu sprung out of a Rift, tangling with one of the monkeys in mid-air before all the others hit the two and fell down. As soon as their bodies touched the ground, Enkidu bit down on the Heartless' throat, crushing it and killing the spawn of darkness. " Wahaha! Yes, good Enkidu!" Gilgamesh praised, " There is nary a string of meat on these beasts, but feel free to enjoy yourself!" Enkidu's eyes narrowed and he rushed to tear into the next Heartless, blood-lust driving him forward. As for the Sneak Army, Gilgamesh could see the clouds of dust the Heartless stirred up when it jumped and landed. Before he could go to attack it, however, the Heartless charged at him, and Gilgamesh raised all eight blades to defend himself, quite literally holding it at bay. He could feel his muscles strain under the sheer force of the creature's momentum, but held his ground all the same. After a moment of being in the pushing match, Gilgamesh raised two of his swords and stabbed them into its feet and held them tight, while running another two through each of the creature's kneecaps. As the Heartless, becoming visible again, screeched out in pain, Gilgamesh yelled to Kadaj, " Come and finish the monster off!" This Heartless wasn't going anywhere anytime soon--he'd make sure of that.

Patience is for losers. Kampf from the Soul Eater OST. --
Wait wait wait, Gilgamesh was able to summon a beast to fight alongside him all this time and he hadn't bothered to do so until now?! It was a cool thing to summon, mind you, but all Kadaj was wondering was why it wasn't summoned when they started this fight thing with this Heartless. Either way, the odds were better for them though. The only problem was that Heartless would not stay still. Every time Kadaj thought he had it, it would move and his sword would just cut through air. Or one of those monkey Heartless, which was fine.
But finally, Gilgamesh got it to be visible while he held it in place. Oh goody. Kadaj smirked as he was told to come finish the thing off, immediately jumping into action and slamming the sword down vertically on its head. Once he landed on the floor again, he hit it horizontally three times, the creature disappearing after the final blow. The Heartless was gone now, which meant that it was back to their little duel, right?
Right.
No patience was left in the silver haired remnant. He jumped straight for Gilgamesh, Souba in hand.

Long have I waited for this! The beast was dead, and the swordsman had killed the Sneak Army. Now, to let Enkidu finish off those pesky monkeys and--" Oh-ho!" Gilgamesh's thoughts were interrupted as he blocked Kadaj's attack with one of the swords in his extra arm. So, THAT was the kind of fight they were going to have--what fun! Using his other seven arms, Gilgamesh brought all of the blades towards Kadaj--one at each arm, and the other five at his midsection. Enkidu stopped mauling the remaining Power Wild and turned to Kadaj, ready to pounce, but his friend's command stopped him. " This is a fight between men, Enkidu! And though you were once a man, in this dimension you are not, so please--until the next dimension!" The wolf's face looked downcast (if that were even possibly, beneath its ferocity), but respected his friend's wishes. Giving him a quick bark of compliance, Enkidu eagerly returned to terrorizing the poor Heartless.

Move it or die lose it. --
Damn, blocked. And holy crap more swords were coming straight at him! Seven of them to be exa-- stop thinking and do something! Kadaj moved out of the way for the two going for his arms, but the five going toward his midsection were going to be a little harder to do that with. The remnant dodged the first two, then blocked the next two. The sheer force Gilgamesh was swinging these things with was something to be reckoned wit-- and one last sword coming at him move!
This sword he moved to the side of, but not before making sure that the blade of the weapon wasn't in-between the two blades of the Souba. He grinned, then made a flip to try and disarm this sword of Gilgamesh's completely. If he could do that, then it'd just be one less sword to go against. There would just be... seven more. Yeah. Kadaj could so win this. He knew it.

Real men don't just use swords! What a quick one, this swordsman. He managed to dodge or deflect each of Gilgamesh's attacks, as well as disarming one of his swords--the Buster Sword, to be exact. Still, as Kadaj rent the blade from his hand, Gilgamesh brought the heel of his foot to his opponent's diaphragm, followed by a quick lower-middle-left-hook with his unarmed hand to Kadaj's face. " Ha! Though you are skilled, you're nothing more than the dirt beneath the dirt beneath my boot!" Scraping the blade of Zantetsuken against the Genji Katana, he grinned--as best he could with those fangs--at Kadaj, daring the swordsman to come and try again. [ MORPHING TIME!'s effect has run out. Enkidu has left the area.]
